The Tang Dynasty accepted exchanges and studies from various countries, and its economy, society, culture and art showed the characteristics of diversification and openness. A large number of famous poets have emerged in poetry, calligraphy, painting and music, such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Bai Juyi, calligrapher Yan Zhenqing, painter Wu Daozi and musician Li Guinian.
The Tang Dynasty was one of the most powerful countries in the world at that time, with a well-known reputation and contacts with Asian and European countries.
The establishment and unification of the Tang Dynasty
The royal family in the Tang Dynasty came from Li in Longxi. According to legend, Li Yan, the founding monarch of the sixteen countries in Xiliang, was his distant ancestor. At that time, the Li family was also an important member of the Guanlong Group of the Northern Wei Dynasty.
Famous figures such as Li Guang, the flying general of the Western Han Dynasty, emerged in Longxi. In Old Tang Book and New Tang Book, it is said that Li, the royal family of the Tang Dynasty, is a descendant of Li Er (Lao Zi). In the Northern Zhou Dynasty, following the standard policy of Guanlong Group, Li was given the Hu surname "Xiao Ye". At the end of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty reinstated him as Li.
During the great cause of the Sui Dynasty, due to Yang Di's abuse of state power and the failure of Koguryo's Three Signs, a civil revolt occurred at the end of the Sui Dynasty. Seeing that there was chaos in the world, Li Yuan came up with the idea of replacing the Sui Dynasty.
