Although the historical celebrities who were related to Xiangshan and the historical Plum Blossom Hall have long been hard to find, the Plum Blossom Hall, which was rebuilt in the spring of 2005, stands majestically on the top of Xiangshan with its simple shape and peaceful atmosphere. Now we are opening our hearts to welcome visitors from all directions.
When you come to the Plum Blossom Hall, you look up and see a horizontal plaque with gold characters on a black background hanging above the main entrance. The plaque reads "Meihua Hall" and is inscribed "Meishan Su Shi". There are couplets on both sides of the door. Before entering the hall, visitors will have an extraordinary feeling.
Entering the front hall, there is a screen in the middle and behind, and a plaque above it with the inscription "Xiang Sheng Qun Jade". There is a couplet engraved on the dark red pillars on both sides, which are all words from Xu Xiake's "Five Poems on Xiaoxiangshan Plum Blossom Hall". There is a portrait of Xu Xiake in front of the screen, and text introducing the relationship between Xu Xiake and Xiangshan on the base. There are two rows of antique mahogany chairs and coffee tables below. On the east and west walls, there are poems describing the scenery of Xiangshan by celebrities such as Su Shi's "Huichong's "Evening Scene on the Spring River"", Xu Xiake's "Brother He's Rhymes", Yang Mingshi's "Nostalgia for Fragrant Mountains", etc. The characters are made of the clay used to make purple teapots in Yixing. Everything seems quaint and precious. Behind the screen are also engraved Mao Zedong's words "I want to learn from Xu Xiake", which makes people awe-inspiring.
Stepping into the back hall, the scenery is the same as the front hall but different. There are also screens, plaques, couplets, mahogany tables and chairs, coffee tables, etc. in the middle and back. However, what is very different from the front hall is that the back hall is mainly composed of paintings, and dozens of palace lanterns are hung, making it particularly solemn and elegant. There are large reliefs on the screen, introducing the main attractions of Xiangshan. On the walls on both sides, there are several sketches on each side: the picture of Wu Fei picking incense, the picture of Dongpo Night Banquet, the picture of listening to the pine singing in the wind, etc. It can be seen that Xiangshan has a deep relationship with historical celebrities. After seeing these pictures that reproduce the historical features, I believe that every visitor will feel a love and pride for Xiangshan from the bottom of his heart. On the back of the screen, there is also the preface of Xu Xiake's "Five Poems on Xiaoxiangshan Plum Blossom Hall" written by the famous calligrapher Lin Zaicheng.
There is another cave behind Plum Blossom Hall. There is also a plaque under the back eaves, and there are also couplets on both sides. The content of the couplet is a poem from Su Dongpo's "Red Plum", which echoes the couplets in the front hall. There is also a platform behind the house, about 40 square meters, wooden, with guardrails, and a pond underneath with rippling clear water. Standing on the platform, you can overlook the Yangtze River.
