All the flowers are pale and inky.
Don't boast that the color is beautiful,
Just keep it fresh and full of Kun.
Mention Wang Mian's poem "Memoir of a Beautiful Picture", and you must be familiar with it. Wang Mian (1287—— 1359), with the character stamp number Zhu Shi Shan Nong, was a famous painter, poet and calligrapher in the Yuan Dynasty. He lost his father at the age of seven and made a living by sewing with his mother.
Wang Mian has been studious since he was a child. Because the family was poor and had no money to go to school, they drove the cattle to the landlord's house. He took the cows into the wild and let them eat grass. He ran to school and secretly stood outside the window listening to the teacher. He didn't go home until evening, but he left the cows in the wild. The landlord gave him a good beating for it. But for class, he still does this every day, but he never dares to leave the cows in the wild again.
Wang Mian's family is poor, so he can't afford to light an oil lamp at night. He ran to a nearby temple, sat on the Buddha's knee and studied hard by the ever-burning lamp until dawn. Many things happen. After years of hard work, he finally grew into a great painter and poet.
Wang Mian's story taught me a truth: Only by working hard can you become a well-read person. The road to success comes from a place where there is no road, and it is opened up from a barren place with thorns.
