Following the successful cooperation between the Singapore Arts Festival and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra in 2003 and the tour in Europe in 2005, Mr. Xian, a famous multi-talented Singaporean artist, once again joined hands with the Chinese Orchestra to present the calligraphy concerto "Qinyuanchun-Hukou Yellow River" at the concerts in Beijing and Shanghai.
At the same time, the orchestra also presented Skynet adapted from Mr. Chen's modern poem of the same name, which inspired a new spark of cooperation between the two sides. This song is gripping, depicting the vastness and greatness of heaven and earth in the orchestra's performance, emotional recitation and chorus (Beijing and Shanghai).
In recent years, the orchestra has actively developed its own unique brand music. During this tour, the orchestra brought two important achievements to the audience-Tabula's Dialogue with the Chinese Orchestra and The Wind of Peeping II. The former features the tambourine, an Indian percussion instrument, while the latter combines Indian and Malay elements to highlight Singapore's multicultural environment. These representative tracks add some unique Singapore flavor to the concert program.
Although the style is novel and unique, the unique repertoire of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra is still highly praised by music critics and audiences. The concert showed the audience a diverse, progressive and exquisite Chinese orchestra. In Beijing, more than 1000 audience (equivalent to 90% attendance rate) came to watch the orchestra's performance, which left a deep impression on the orchestra. At the end of the concert, the audience stood up and applauded the orchestra. Guests attending the dinner included Mr. Huang Gensheng, Vice Premier of the State Council, Dr. China, Minister of Journalism and Communication Arts, and Mr. Sun, Minister of Culture.
