What are the precautions for writing brush strokes?

Writing brush strokes requires attention to the following six aspects:

1. Sit upright, with your feet flat on the ground, your shoulders flat, your back straight, your head straight, and your eyes on the paper.

2. Hold the pen in your palm, your finger and your wrist. Beginners can pillow their wrists when practicing calligraphy, and gradually need to lift their wrists and hang them down.

3. The brushwork should be distinguished, generally divided into Fang Bi and round pen, and the application parts of center, flank and lying front should also be defined.

4. Preparation before writing-pen.

5. Stroke writing process: Chinese characters are composed of various strokes. The writing of each stroke includes three links: starting, writing and collecting.

6. Selection of paper: The paper for writing with brush requires a certain ink absorption capacity. Xuan paper is soft, white, smooth, strong in ink permeability, durable, suitable for writing and painting, and convenient to use and save. However, Xuan paper is expensive, so beginners can choose tassel paper, bamboo paper or old newspapers to practice.
