Wang (1845- 1900) was born in Fushan County, Shandong Province (now Fushan District, Yantai City). Born in honesty and frankness, he is known as the "Oriental Monster". Modern epitaphs, collectors and calligraphers in China were the first people to discover and collect Oracle Bone Inscriptions. In the sixth year of Guangxu, he was a scholar and was awarded the editor of Hanlin. Third, propose a toast to imperial academy. In the year of Gengzi, the Boxer Rebellion attacked Beijing and Tianjin, and was appointed as the permanent envoy to Shi Jing.
Wang dabbled in the history of books and loved epigraphy. He is the author of Stone Carvings in Han Dynasty, Selected Works of Gu Quan, Stone Carvings in Southern and Northern Dynasties and Stone Carvings in Fushan. He has close contacts with collectors and scholars such as Weng Tonghe, Xu Wei, Pan Zuyin, Wu Daxiao, Luo Zhenyu and Liu E. Good at calligraphy, won the appreciation of Cixi, Cixi imperial pen painting, when the fate of the inscription for the king.
Wang's literary achievements
Wang's initial judgment on Oracle Bone Inscriptions was confirmed by later research. Wang studied Chinese ancient cultural relics deeply, and Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Yin Ruins changed from a "keel" to a precious ancient cultural research material, thus avoiding the bad luck of being destroyed as a "medicinal material". Wang made an indelible contribution to the protection and development of China's ancient cultural heritage and the founding of Oracle Bone Inscriptions.
Oracle Bone Inscriptions's discovery not only marks the nearly 4000-year history of China, but also provides extremely valuable information for studying the history of Shang Dynasty. The discovery of Oracle Bone Inscriptions directly led to the excavation of the Yin Ruins in Anyang, which was as important as the discovery of the ancient Greek Trojan site, and formed two new disciplines, Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Yin Shang archaeology.
