Since ancient times, "family learning" has been one of the important threads of China's traditional cultural heritage. Mr Duan's father was a famous art educator in Sichuan and a painter in China in the 20th century. His works are "upright and elegant, clean and vigorous, indifferent and sparse, with lofty artistic conception"; He is very strict about his research. Besides being good at landscape painting, he also has profound attainments in traditional art, poetry, calligraphy and epigraphy. On 1924, Mr. Duan Xugu was admitted to Shanghai Xinhua Art College initiated by Zhang Yuguang and Pan Tianshou to study China landscape painting. Later, he served as the principal of Shanghai Xinhua Art College and worked with Huang. Later, he raised funds with Feng Jianwu to establish Chengdu Oriental Art College, and served as the first president to teach landscape painting. 1956, Duan Xugu was elected to the Fine Arts Department of Southwest Normal University as a professor and director of the teaching and research section of Chinese painting. Mr. Wang has a deep friendship with many Chinese painting predecessors such as Huang, Zhu Lesan and Lu.
Mr. Duan, Mr. Duan Xugu's youngest son, has loved art since childhood. Under the profound influence of family studies, he has laid a solid artistic foundation since childhood under the inculcation of his late father, cultivated a strong interest in learning, and obtained effective learning methods and skills. For family reasons, when he was young, he had various opportunities to witness the master painting on the spot. For example, when Huang Ruchuan was creating in Qingcheng Mountain, he was accompanied by his husband to sketch. These unique conditions are really commendable.
Under the guidance of his father's words and deeds, Mr. Duan has accumulated rich knowledge in the history of literature, painting theory and artistic creation through hard study and tireless research and study.
