I remember that Xu Beihong's inspirational story of painting horses was included in primary school textbooks, which was very touching and far-reaching.
Mr. Xu Beihong is a famous painter, art educator, cultural scholar and social activist, who has played a vital role in the development and innovation of modern art in China.
I. Life:
Xu Beihong, 1895 was born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province in July. His original name was Shou Kang, and he changed his name to "Beihong" when he was 17 years old. I love painting since I was a child, and I am famous in the countryside.
19 15 years, Xu Beihong went to the seaside alone to draw illustrations and monthly cards for libraries and publishing houses with his own painting talent. Due to the meager payment, his life was very embarrassing.
1965438+In February 2006, Xu Beihong was admitted to the French Department of Aurora University and decided to study in France. 1965438+In March 2009, with the help of Mr. Cai Yuanpei and others, he was sent to France and admitted to the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he studied hard and read extensively. After living in Germany, Britain, Switzerland, Italy and other countries for 8 years, he returned to China because of extremely difficult economy.
1928, Xu Beihong was hired as a professor of art at Central University. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Xu Beihong moved to Chongqing with Central University.
From 1938 to 1942, Xu Beihong held art exhibitions in Southeast Asian countries, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Ipoh, India, and donated all the proceeds from selling paintings to the cause of the Anti-Japanese War.
1949, after the founding of New China, Xu Beihong was appointed Chairman of the National Artists Association and Dean of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
1On the night of September 23rd, 953, Xu Beihong died of a sudden cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 58.
Second, artistic achievements:
Xu Beihong is a great artist, who has made outstanding historical contributions in sketch, oil painting, Chinese painting, poetry and calligraphy.
1, sketch:
Xu Beihong's sketch achievement is no less than that of any western art master.
"Broad and subtle, extremely bright and mediocre in Tao" is a true portrayal of Xu Beihong's sketch works.
2. Oil painting:
Xu Beihong's oil paintings advocate realism, bringing line modeling in Chinese painting to oil painting, and creating a new trend of nationalization of oil painting.
3. Chinese painting:
Xu Beihong advocates the "independent study" of Chinese painting, opposes the conservatism of Chinese painting stylization, and is determined to reform the realistic techniques in western art and apply them to the creation of Chinese painting. Although a bit stiff, it has a brand-new era.
4. freehand horse
Xu Beihong's horse painting is his great artistic achievement. Because it skillfully transforms the perspective principle in western art into the lines and ink colors of Chinese painting, it is natural and interesting. In particular, Xu Beihong's superb line modeling ability, priority, depth of dry and wet, cadence, just right.
4. Calligraphy:
The line modeling ability in Xu Beihong's paintings is entirely due to his profound calligraphy skills, and his calligraphy is also unique, with a stone flavor and a pen and ink charm.
Third, the enlightenment to future generations:
Xu Beihong took the skills of western learning and walked in the middle, bringing out the best in each other and making a great master.
Looking back on modern Chinese painting, those masters, whether immersed in tradition or innovative, such as Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, Pan Tianshou and so on. Or those who learn western painting into Chinese painting, such as Xu Beihong, are all based on intensive calligraphy (while Qi, Zhang, Fu and Pan are also proficient in seal cutting). Why?
Don't complain that there are no masters, no time, and real painters don't work hard.
