After graduating from Qi Wang Middle School at the age of 19 in 1953, he returned to Beilidao Primary School as a civil teacher, and later transferred to Houjiahu Primary School in Xinliao Town and Tiaofeng Primary School to teach. While doing a good job in teaching, he persisted in self-study of cultural knowledge, especially in painting.
in September, 1958, Qi Wang was admitted to Guangdong Painting Academy (later Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts) with excellent results, and became the first college student in Beili Island. In college students, he not only tried to learn his major in printmaking, but also eagerly studied sketch, watercolor, traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. He lay in the ocean of knowledge, and he was so infatuated that he forgot to eat and sleep day and night, eager to swallow all the knowledge. It was often when his classmates were sleeping soundly, but when he was most involved in his study, he simply entered the realm of ecstasy.
After graduating from Guangdong Painting Academy in June p>1961, Qi Wang was assigned to teach in the state-run Jinxing Farm Middle School (now in Leizhou City). While doing a good job in teaching and educating people, he began to create fine arts in his spare time and began to try to publish his works for various newspapers and periodicals. His carved prints were published in municipal journals for the first time, which was overwhelming, which further stimulated his creative enthusiasm. Then his works appeared in provincial and national journals.
