August 17th Revolutionary Martyrs Park is located in Lingtou Village, Shoushan Township, Jinan District, Fuzhou.
On August 6th, 1949, the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army 10 Corps launched an attack on the defensive positions of the Kuomintang troops in Fuzhou at Lingtou, Beifeng, which started the first liberation campaign in Fuzhou. Pig's hoof pavilion mountain is also called pig's hoof peak, and storming pig's hoof peak is the most intense battle to liberate Fuzhou. The peak is located in Fuzhou North Gate Fortress, with an altitude of 524.4 meters and cliffs on three sides. 1949, the 50th Division of the Kuomintang Army 106 Army was heavily guarded, and a Abatis made of wooden stakes and barbed wire was set in front of the mountain to hold the throat of the main force of the People's Liberation Army to Fuzhou. The 3rd Battalion of 245th Regiment, 82nd Division, 28th Army of our army launched an attack on this highland on the evening of August 16. The August 17th Revolutionary Martyrs Park was officially started on February 1999 and completed on the 50th anniversary of Fuzhou liberation1August/999. Martyrs Park is built on the mountain, mainly composed of memorial archways, monuments and martyrs' tombs. The archway at the gate is10.75m high, with four pillars and three doors. The banner of "August 17th Park" was personally inscribed by General Wang Zhi, former deputy political commissar of Fuzhou Military Region and deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress. The four couplets of the archway were written by six poetry writers and calligraphers from various provinces and cities. The main building of the monument is concrete, the monument body is engraved with gold-plated characters of the "August 17th Revolutionary Martyrs Monument", and the pedestal is decorated with the battle relief of the pig's hoof Tingshan on three sides, which reproduces the scene of the fierce battle of the pig's hoof Tingshan and the scene of the military and civilians celebrating the victory. While carving a brief introduction to the battle, I will always remember the great achievements of the martyrs The tomb of the martyrs is located on the hillside behind the monument, covered with alms, covering an area of 14 square meters. At present, the remains of nine martyrs who died in the battle of Zhuding Tingshan have been buried, and the remains of other martyrs are still being searched.
August 17th Revolutionary Martyrs Park was declared as a cultural relic protection unit in Fuzhou by Fuzhou Municipal People's Government in July 20001year, as a youth moral education base and patriotic education base in Fuzhou by Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Fuzhou Municipal People's Government in July 20001year, and as a party history education base in Fujian Province by the Party History Research Office of Fujian Provincial Committee in September 2009.
