Brief introduction of Beijing reclining Buddha temple

The reclining Buddha Temple in Beijing not only has a very long history, but also the surrounding natural environment protection is in place. The whole temple gives people a sense of tranquility and peace, which greatly improves your body and mind. This is a good place for outdoor travel.

The reclining Buddha Temple is now in Beijing Botanical Garden. Go through the south gate of the botanical garden and walk north along the main road to the end. This archway is far away from the gate of the reclining Buddha Temple.

Travel guide to reclining Buddha temple

This archway is very similar to that of Xiangshan Temple. Since it is a stargate, there are four columns on the third floor, and the columns are towering. But the towering columns here are decorated with glass. On the forehead of the memorial archway, it says Guang Zhi Surfing. It is said that Buddha has four kinds of wisdom, that is, Buddha has wisdom and light; Lang, suddenly enlightened. In other words, when you get here, you will be suddenly enlightened and radiant with Buddha.

This archway faces south, and there is a house on the east side. Inside is a restaurant specializing in housekeeping. Later, parks and ancient buildings were not allowed to make fires for cooking, so he bought several rice cookers to cook jiaozi noodles for tourists. I have eaten both his home cooking and jiaozi noodles, which are the kind of park dishes that can be seen everywhere. Behind the dining room is Sun's tomb.

There is a path to the northwest of Pailou, which leads to a famous place in Beijing, namely Cherry Valley. At the end of Cherry Valley, there is a mountain spring. Every day, the old man fills the mountain spring water here with various coke bottles and mineral water buckets and gives it to his aunt, saying that it is a cure for all diseases. Later, after a while, the spring water became thinner and thinner, and then suddenly it came up again.

The water poured back by my old man looks a little turbid, thinking that the mountain spring will be turbid when it rains, but he still gnashes his teeth after drinking it. The next day, when the old man went to irrigate, the staff nearby told him not to irrigate. That's the reclaimed water in the park, which is the reclaimed water after the toilet water is purified.

On the way to Cherry Valley, outside the back wall of the reclining Buddha Temple, there is a garden called Jixiu Garden. There is a swimming pool, balcony and hall in the garden. All kinds of instant noodles and sausages are sold in the hall. There is also a loudspeaker in the garden playing the narrator's song, and the lyrics have a sentence "Mom doesn't feel" circulating back and forth.

There are the most abundant magnolia trees in Beijing in the courtyards on both sides of the road through Guang Zhi Chonglang archway. Every spring, when the magnolia blossoms, people who love flowers will come to watch it. At the end of the road, an iron fence was installed. It is open from 7 am to 5 pm every day, and you can't go to the reclining Buddha Temple at other times.

Brief introduction of reclining Buddha temple

There is also a glazed archway outside the gate of the reclining Buddha Temple.

This archway is the same as the glazed archway in front of Zhao Temple in Xiangshan Park and the wisdom sea in Wanshou Mountain in the Summer Palace. Here, the plaque on the front of the archway reads "* * * enjoys the secret collection".

Participate in research together; Keep it a secret, you can only understand the unspeakable Buddhist truth. The plaque behind the archway reads "Be sufficient, be precise and be strict", followed by an affirmative sentence. We should not only participate in research, but also be rigorous in academic research. It's all about Gan Long.

This is the gate behind the glazed arch. The "Shifang Pujue Temple" on the plaque was originally inscribed by Yongzheng, and the plaque was destroyed by the war. This plaque was rebuilt and inscribed by Zhao Puchu.

The ten directions of Buddhism are north, south, west, east, heaven and earth, life and death, past and future. Of course, universal consciousness means that everyone is conscious, not just from heaven to earth. You know me.

Outside the mountain, there are several open wintersweet tree trees beside the drainage pond.

The reclining Buddha Temple was founded in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. At that time, it was called Doulv Temple, also called Shouan Temple. Among them, there is a reclining Buddha statue carved by sandalwood in the reclining Buddha hall. At that time, the temple was not big, but it was basically destroyed in the Southern Song Dynasty, when there were still many wars. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was rebuilt on the basis of the original Doulv Temple.

The reclining Buddha Hall was also rebuilt and a bronze reclining Buddha statue was recast. The Ming Dynasty was the most prosperous period.

By the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the world was in chaos, the military forces were rampant, the reclining Buddha temple was dilapidated, the incense was extinguished, and the Buddha had gone. Until the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, an Iraqi prince, Yun Xiang, funded the reconstruction of the reclining Buddha Temple. After the restoration, Yong Zhengdi walked around and wrote many words, including the plaque of "Shifang Pujue Temple".

Later, Emperor Ganlong inherited his father's mantle. It is estimated that the glazed archway outside the mountain gate was built by Gan Long. Otherwise, how can it be the same as the Zhao Temple in Xiangshan and the glazed archway on the top of the Summer Palace he built?

When the glazed archway was built, the temple gate extended from the mountain gate to the glazed archway, and the mountain gate and the release pond in front became the temple building together. The Bell and Drum Tower is built outside the mountain gate, surrounded by wintersweet tree. Look at the roof of the bell tower.

Different from other temples, there are side doors on both sides of the entrance of the reclining Buddha Temple.

Shanmen Tianwang Temple.

As usual, there is a statue of Maitreya in the King's Temple, with four heavenly kings on both sides and Wei Tuo on the back.

There is a platform behind the Heavenly King Hall leading to the Hall of Ursa Major. Both Qianmen and Tianwangtang are located at the top of the mountain, with only one gray tile roof. Daxiong Hall is a glazed tile roof, with a single eaves, carved beams and painted buildings under the eaves, a bucket arch and a seven-ridged beast on the ridge. The specifications are quite high. The Qing dynasty should be rebuilt like this.

Daxiong Hall sits on a three-foot platform, with or without a railing platform in front, five rooms wide and three rooms deep. This is the largest building in the temple. However, it has no eaves gallery, and the plaque at the main entrance reads "Old Scenery of Sara", which was inscribed by Yongzheng.

Once upon a time, there was a Pharaoh named Ramses II in Egypt. Wherever he went, he saw beautiful temples, so he changed all the original Pharaoh statues in the temples into his own. Our emperor Qianlong also has this hobby. Wherever he saw the plaque, he changed the original inscription of others into his own.

When I arrived at the Sleeping Buddha Temple, there were not many inscriptions by Yong Zhengdi, but the inscription was here. Gan Long can't be so rude. He couldn't have cut down the plaque of the Buddha statue and burned it, could he? Sara refers to the place of Sakyamuni _, which means that there is a reclining Buddha statue in this temple; Sui: deep; Situation: situation.

The couplets on both sides of the front door were written by Gan Long, but the words here are Pu Jie's tribute books. The first part is "the ethereal tone of Yuzhu Huanghua Zen Forest", and the second part is "Bao Zhuang's interesting and solemn Sanskrit".

This Mahatma Hall is dedicated to the Three Buddhas, so it is also called the Three Buddhas Hall. Buddhism is chaotic in time and space, and there are three horizontal buddhas in space; There are also three buddhas in chronological order. This temple is dedicated to the third Buddha, namely Sakyamuni Buddha in the middle, Pharmacist Buddha in the east and Amitabha Buddha in the west. Only Siddhartha Gautama in the middle can be seen in the above picture.

There are eighteen arhats clay sculptures on both sides of the Buddha statue; On the back of the niche is the Nanhai Guanyin statue of Qianfo Mountain, also known as Island Guanyin. When the dispute in the South China Sea was fierce, a Chinese aunt hit the nail on the head and pointed out: The South China Sea must belong to China, otherwise where does Guanyin live in the South China Sea? Aunt may have no education, but her reason is simple.

As usual, there are turtles carrying imperial monuments on both sides of the platform in front of the Hall of Ursa Major. There is a story in the Tang Dynasty. In ancient times, there was a famous monk who was a vegetarian and read Buddha. He dug a pool and let him go. His net worth was quite high. One day, a Buddhist temple was robbed. The man took all his disciples to the south by boat. On the way, a strong wind blew and the boat capsized. Now a huge turtle, carrying all the people to the other side. When landing, the monk called Amitabha, and the tortoise said, I am the old tortoise in the releasing pond in your temple.

Since then, there has been the custom of turtle-backed stone tablets. It is also said that this turtle is the ninth son of the East China Sea Dragon King. It's called asking for a book, which is pronounced "servility". I don't know why you came out with the stone tablet.

Behind the Hall of Great Heroes is the most famous reclining Buddha Hall in this temple. The building form of the reclining Buddha Hall is the same as that of the Mahatma Hall. Also on a three-foot high pedestal, there is a platform without railings in front, and there are two royal monuments on both sides below the platform.

The Hall of Great Heroes is also paved with glazed tiles for the top of the mountain to rest, but there are only five ridged beasts on the ridge and only three wide ones.

The plaque says "The moon is in the sky". Sex refers to Buddha nature. Buddha's light is like moonlight, shining forever. On both sides of the couplet, the top is "Bodhisattva is printed all the way" and the bottom is "All sentient beings have feelings".

There is a horizontal plaque hanging on the front of the hall, which reads "Get Great Freedom". Buddhism says that the greatest freedom is nirvana. These are all written by Cixi.

The statue in the temple depicts the scene of Sakyamuni. Sakyamuni Buddha lay on his side in the middle, with his left hand lying flat on his leg and his right hand holding up his head.

Behind the reclining Buddha is a sitting Buddha painted in clay sculpture with a sad expression. The atmosphere in the temple is very bleak. This is the scene of Sakyamuni's nirvana under Nara tree. He is telling the twelve disciples what to do.

There is indeed Sakyamuni in history, probably contemporary with Confucius. It is said that he was born in 566 BC in the kingdom of Capisa on the southern slope of the Himalayas.

The Tang Dynasty called it Tianzhu Kingdom, which was located in the central and western Nepal. It covers an area of 2,600 square kilometers, which is one sixth of that of Beijing. There have been some modern archaeological discoveries in this place, that is, some ancient pottery has been unearthed.

At that time, there was no concept of a country in that place. There are even three villages called countries in the records. Actually, it's more appropriate to call them tribes. Sakyamuni is the surname of the tribe, and Munni is a Sanskrit saint. Buddha has its own common name. According to various Buddhist records, the Buddha told his disciples at the age of 80 that he would get nirvana in three months.

When the time came, he asked his disciples to lay mats under two mullahs on the bank of NaylonyePostiti (the name of this river is too difficult to pronounce). This is the origin of Sarah, so the Buddha became the Buddha under the bodhi tree, and Nirvana was born under the Mullah tree.

The Buddha was lying on the mat with his head facing north, his feet facing west and his left foot on his right foot. All the Buddhist paintings we see are painted in this way, and the reclining Buddha in the reclining Buddha temple is in this position.

But because this hall faces south, the reclining Buddha here looks like his head faces west and south. There is also a reclining Buddha temple in Bangkok, Thailand. There is a golden statue of wood carving in the reclining Buddha statue, with its head facing north and west. It's very big. Look at it.

The Buddha was lying under a tree, and twelve disciples were sitting around him, listening to the final instructions. That is, the Buddha died here, and the cremated relic was taken back by the eight kings of Sakyamuni and built a tower to support him. Nirvana in Buddhism is Sanskrit, and the free translation should be called nirvana. Nirvana _ is to eliminate troubles, and Nirvana _ is to free life and death.

There are different opinions about the date of Buddha's nirvana. In Tibetan Buddhism, Buddha's birthday, Buddha's enlightenment and Buddha's nirvana are the same day. Mahayana Buddhism in the Han Dynasty is divided into these festivals, and the Buddha's Nirvana Day is set on February 15th of the lunar calendar. This is recorded in the scriptures that Tang Priest brought back from the Western Heaven. See "The Western Regions of Datang".

Let's talk about Empress Dowager Cixi first. Her handwriting is really unusual, but it's still good. Square, high-spirited, right? She seems to have practiced a lot of words, too. But unlike the emperor's articles, her articles were taught by the emperor since childhood. Needless to say, they have to read historical poems. So the couplets written by the emperor have some allusions and quotations.

These sentences written by Empress Dowager Cixi are plain, simple and straightforward, without classics. I guess when she came to the reclining Buddha Temple to worship Buddha, there must be an old monk explaining the Buddha's nirvana, so she wrote "liberation" and hung it in the temple for fear that later people would not understand it. This is not the way a literate person composes music at all! What's the difference between eating candied haws and eating candied haws?
