60 primary and secondary schools in Chongqing have become pilot schools for calligraphy education.

Yesterday, the 5th Art Exhibition for Primary and Secondary School Students and the 3rd Art Calligraphy Competition for Primary and Secondary School Students in Chongqing kicked off in Liyuchi Primary School in Jiangbei District. 440 masters of primary and middle school students who are good at painting and calligraphy competed in the same field, showing their respective styles.

It is understood that the Municipal Education Commission recently named the first batch of 60 "calligraphy education pilot schools" in primary and secondary schools. Yesterday, as one of the first pilot schools, hundreds of calligraphy lovers in grade 1-6 showed their works on the playground.

According to the Municipal Education Commission, calligraphy courses will be offered in primary and secondary schools in the city from the new semester, and a number of primary and secondary schools with calligraphy artistic characteristics will be named next year.

Relevant persons said that from the beginning of this semester, qualified schools can offer calligraphy classes, arrange a calligraphy class every afternoon, and practice pencils, pens and brushes according to the requirements of the corresponding grades. Primary and junior high schools should arrange 1-2 class hours of calligraphy every week and include them in the curriculum. Ordinary high schools make corresponding arrangements according to the actual situation.

Peng Kang, a teacher from Liyuchi Primary School, told the reporter that the school has specially compiled the school-based textbook "Writing", and every grade has two classes every week to teach students to write with Chinese brush.

In order to let students calm down and practice calligraphy, the teacher has to assign homework after class. "We generally only require time for students to go home and practice calligraphy for half an hour, but there is no requirement for the number of people. Students can write a few articles or just a few words. " Teacher Peng Kang said.

The parents of calligraphy students are very supportive. A parent who brought his children to the competition said: "Although it is the electronic age, one's writing is still very important. It is much more important for children to write well than to get two more points. "
