What is the meaning of "Yan Jin" in Yan Liu Jin Gu?

Yan Jin refers to the characteristics of Yan Zhenqing, a calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty.

Yan Gu means that both kinds of calligraphy are very powerful, but their styles are different. That is, what is generally called excellent calligraphy comes from "Bachelor of Sacrifice to Stone": "Man Qing's pen, Yan Gu."

Yan Ti is a font created by Yan Zhenqing, a calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. Yan Ti and Liu Gongquan are collectively called "Yan Liu" and "Yan Liu Jingu". "Yan Ti" is aimed at Yan Zhenqing's regular script. Its regular script structure is square and dense, the strokes are horizontal and light, the brushwork is vigorous and round, and the momentum is solemn and vigorous.

Obviously, "Yan Ti" calligraphy has broken through the previous norms. Mi Fei's Xi Zhi and Ou Yu's criticism of Yan Zhenqing in the early Tang Dynasty "have no dull interest, but generally Yan and Liu pick and kick, and he is the father of ugly letters in later generations, and since then the ancient law has been completely destroyed". This shows the contribution of Yan and Liu to ancient innovation from the opposite side.

Yan Shu's achievement is obvious. He formed a whole set of new brushwork, which made Tang Kai enter a new stage with pen. It also created the typical image and artistic realm of Tang Kai in his mature period, and pushed the development of Tang Kai to the peak. Su Shi said: "As for poetry, literature as for Korea, literature as for Yan, painting as for Wu Daozi, the changes of ancient and modern times and the power of the world can all be achieved." Su Shi's words are very insightful, and Yan Zhenqing's contribution to the development of calligraphy art is pioneering.
