Tang Bin, also known as Kong Bo, was a famous politician in the Qing Dynasty and a calligrapher. When he was in power, he served as the Minister of the Ministry of Works. As a petitioner to the Ministry of Works, he could have made money. Countless, but he didn't do this. He always had a clean life. After his death, his family only had eight taels of silver. It can be seen that he was an honest official, which made us admire him. However, Kangxi did not pay attention to this. Instead, after his death, he called him shameful and thought he was two-faced, saying one thing and doing another.
In the fifth year of Kangxi's reign, Tang Bin worshiped Sun Qifeng as his teacher, and studied Song and Ming Neo-Confucianism with Gu Yanwu. In the eighth year of Kangxi's reign, he took part in the imperial examination and won the first place at that time, and was awarded the Imperial Academy Lectureship. During his time as an official, he understood the sentiments of the people, especially after taking office in Tongguan, he cracked down on the local wealthy and allowed some wandering people to reclaim the land and grow food. He also actively founded academic societies to teach people knowledge, so that people could live and work in peace and contentment. At that time, Tongguan had the reputation of "Tang Qingtian".
Later, because he was jealous of Yu Guozhu and others, he compiled some of his quotations and reported them to Kangxi at the time. After hearing this, Kangxi accused Tang Bin. Tang Bin was an honest official all his life, but he was framed by others in his later years. When he was the Minister of the Ministry of Industry, he became seriously ill and finally died at home. After his death, the family only had eight taels of silver. At that time, there was no money even for funeral arrangements, so he was buried with the help of some of his friends. But for such an upright official, Emperor Kangxi also said that he was shameless and thought that his behavior as a Han Chinese was extremely shameful.
Kangxi believed that he was a two-faced person who said one thing on the surface but another behind his back, and classified it as the pseudo-Taoism of the time. Because he was said bad things in his later years, Kangxi also had a bad impression of Tang Bin. It was not until the tenth year of Yongzheng that he was rehabilitated.
