The First Exhibition of He Caoshu's Filial Piety
From March 3, 2006 to April 26, 2006, the "Sino-Japanese Calligraphy Exhibition" jointly organized by Shanghai Museum, Tokyo National Museum and Asahi Shimbun was held in Shanghai Museum. This exhibition brings together important works in the history of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy, including 97 works of ancient Japanese calligraphy and 33 works of ancient Japanese calligraphers. Exhibits are representative classic works at various stages in the history of calligraphy, which are extremely precious. Most of them are national treasures of both countries. For example, Wang Xizhi's Mourning Post, Preface to Dingwu Lanting, Chunhua Pavilion Post, Huai Su's Bitter Xun Post in Tang Dynasty, Ou Yangxun's Ming of Liquan in Jiucheng Palace, Su Dongpo's Poem Volume of Li Baixian, and Huang Tingjian's Epitaph Volume of Wang Shier and other treasures on display include Xiao Jing Volume, the only authentic work of Tang Dynasty poet He. There are also works by Cai Xiang, Su Dongpo, Huang Tingjian, Mi Fei and Zhao Mengfu in the Song and Yuan Dynasties, and major calligraphers in the Ming and Qing Dynasties such as Zhu Yunming, Shen Zhou, Wen Zhiming and Dong Qichang.
