The construction of Changde Museum began at 1990. On May 23rd 199 1, the foundation stone was laid for the main building, and on March 28th 1993, the main building was completed and the National Spark Engineering Scientific and Technological Achievements Exhibition was successfully held. The South and North Pavilion was started in March 1998 and completed in May 1999. The basic exhibition of the museum was officially opened to the public on1October 28th, 1993. Changde Museum covers an area of 2 1.300 square meters. The building covers an area of 65438+100000 square meters. It is a quadrangle-style antique building, which consists of a main pavilion and a north-south theme pavilion.

The main hall is divided into front hall, nave and backyard. There is a 68-meter-wide perspective fence in front of the museum. There is a wide stadium in front of the museum. A colorful musical fountain was installed in the center of the stadium. Two huge stone lions stand on both sides of the reading platform in front of the museum. Two large glass fiber reinforced plastic copper-like reliefs are embedded in the outer walls of the north and south sides of the lobby. One is an ancient legend about Changde, and the other is some celebrities and major events in modern Changde. The front of the first floor of the lobby is decorated with the largest Tang tri-color mural in Hunan-Peach Blossom Garden Wonderland. The top of the central hall is covered with glass, which is full of light and spacious. This is a multifunctional comprehensive exhibition hall.

The fully enclosed exhibition room of the back department and the warehouse have a total of 10 standard exhibition room. The whole building has implemented the safety technical prevention project according to the requirements of National Cultural Heritage Administration for the first-class risk units of cultural relics. The exhibitions include Changde Historical and Cultural Relics Exhibition, Sino-Japanese Changde Battle Exhibition, Japanese Changde Bacteriological Warfare Exhibition, China Rooting Exhibition and Changde Hall of Fame.
