At present and in the future, the mainstream trend of China's calligraphy style will be "neat but different from printmaking". Neat, because there are too many untidy things in the market, everyone has an aesthetic orientation of advocating neatness and order. After neatness, the most terrible thing is to be close to printing, because there are more extremely neat printing in contemporary times than in previous dynasties, which requires that there are "marks different from printing" in neatness. For example, the calligraphy of Fan Ceng and Mr. Qi Gong is mainly regular script or running script, which is more neat than most second-and third-rate calligraphers. At the same time, they use superb brushwork to make the words invisible at first sight.
I think the mainstream trend of "neatness is different from printing" is definitely not the mainstream trend of calligraphers' creation. Limited by the level, the mainstream trend of contemporary calligraphers' creation must be "diversity". By mainstream trend, I mean the generation trend of calligraphy style that can stand out and leave a name for future generations.
