Calligraphy of Buddhist monks in Duli
Jian Zhen. Jian Zhen, a monk from daming temple, Yangzhou, visited Japan six times at the invitation of Japanese monks and finally arrived in 754. He taught Buddhist scriptures in Japan and also spread Japanese medicine, literature, calligraphy, architecture and painting, making outstanding contributions to the cultural exchange between China and Japan. Jian Zhen Du Dong is known as "a monk in a famous temple in the Tang Dynasty, who shines brilliantly".
