Mr Kobayashi, known as the first person in Japanese western fonts, is a master of fonts in Japan and even in the West. He is familiar with eastern and western cultures, history, modern calligraphy and font design. Often hired as a judge of international font design competition, I found that many Asians don't know how to use western fonts correctly, let alone how to combine Asian characters with western languages.
This paper expounds the development background of western fonts, the structure of Latin letters, how to understand different glyphs and how to identify western fonts from the aspects of the composition of letters, the understanding of western fonts, the selection of western fonts, the fun of western fonts and the production of western fonts, and gives them to friends who are determined to learn western fonts.
Akira Kobayashi is a world-famous designer of western fonts, and is known as "the first person in Japanese western fonts". Graduated from Musashino University of Fine Arts in Japan, majoring in visual communication design.
1983 to 1989, working as a font designer in a research company. 1989, went to London to study western calligraphy and printing for about one and a half years. 1990 After returning to Japan, he participated in the production of various Japanese fonts of HIRAGINO series in the free workshop.
