For example, the fifth opening: a cluster of ancient trees on the hillside in front, shaded and staggered, with leaves mainly sandwiched and supplemented by leaves. There is a small vermilion tree among the trees, and the main color is flower blue. Contrast the two colors, and the autumn of the picture is suddenly touched. The rolling distant mountains behind the trees are separated by a wide river, and the scenery of Jiangnan is vividly on the paper.
What is special about this work is that it took Dong Qichang 38 days to finish it on the ship. But why did Dong Qichang paint on the boat? It turns out that when this painting was created, Dong Qichang was traveling from Wumen to Guabu in the south near the Yangtze River for more than a month. It is conceivable that the ship was the most comfortable of all the means of transportation in ancient times. The speed of the boat is slow, so the painter can sit on the boat and enjoy the scenery while singing poems and painting. How elegant. This special way of viewing the scenery has brought different creative inspiration to the painter, resulting in different creative types-boating landscape.
Judging from the large number of existing paintings and calligraphy works in Dong Qichang, many of them were created on ships. This has become a very interesting phenomenon in the history of China painting. It can be traced back to the "Mijia Painting and Calligraphy Boat" of Mi Fei, a great painter in the Song Dynasty. Mi Fei once took his beloved paintings and calligraphy works to appreciate on the accompanying boat, or engaged in painting and calligraphy creation and writing letters on the boat. Later literati and painters took this as a model and gradually evolved into a unique landscape in the history of China painting.
Summary: According to the theory of strange Tao, painting is not as good as landscape; With the exquisite theory of pen and ink, landscape is never as good as painting.
Dong Qichang believes that if a specific landscape is the real landscape, then "contentment is always happy and never get carried away" is a delusion; If you think that mountains and rivers are all illusions and are not real, it is not true to pursue truth from mountains and rivers. Only by removing the difference between truth and illusion, not in Baiyun Castle Peak, and not leaving Baiyun Castle Peak, can it be true.
