Introduction to Wu Cheng'en?

Wu Cheng'en (about 15 -1582), born in Hexia, Shanyang County, Huai 'an (now Huai 'an District, Huai 'an City, Jiangsu Province), was a writer in the Ming Dynasty. [1]

since childhood, Wu Cheng'en has been reading extensively in Minhui, especially fond of fairy tales. In the imperial examination, he was repeatedly frustrated, and he was promoted as a tribute student in Jiajing. In the 28th year of Jiajing (1549), he moved to Nanjing and made a living by selling literature. In the thirty-ninth year of Jiajing (156), he served as Cheng of Changxing County, Zhejiang Province, and soon resigned and returned. Due to the difficulties in his official career, he never intended to be an official in his later years and wrote behind closed doors. The Journey to the West, his masterpiece, is one of China's "Four Great Classical Novels".
