School Supervision in Li Ruiqing

On the bank of Liangjiang Road in the North Park of Gulou Campus of Nanjing University, there is a school tablet "Liangjiang Normal School", which was written by Li Ruiqing when he was the supervisor of Liangjiang Normal School. It belongs to the Wei tablet style, with powerful fonts and heavy strokes. It has gone through 15 years of wind and rain.

Li Ruiqing was born in a scholarly family, and was a scholar in 1894. He was elected as Jishi Shu of the Imperial Academy. In 195, he distributed Jiangsu Alternate Road, appointed Jiangning as the academic advisor, and served as the supervisor of Liangjiang Normal School from 196 to 1911. After he took office, he improved the level of teachers and expanded the number of famous teachers. Unite with colleagues, build large-scale buildings and build schools extensively; Reform the educational system, acquire equipment, add subjects, and offer "public * * * subjects" and "classification subjects"; Under the careful auspices of Li Ruiqing, Liangjiang Normal School became the first institution of higher learning in the south of the Yangtze River. The reputation is outstanding, and the students' grades are the highest in universities in the south of the Yangtze River. Famous teachers gather, and famous scholars such as Liu Yizhi, Liu Shipei, Xia Jingguan, Yao Minghui, Lei Heng, Xiao Junxian and Matsumoto Kojiro all teach here. And trained many famous scholars and experts, such as biologist Bing Zhi, educator Liao Shicheng, drama historian Chen Zhongfan, art educator Lv Fengzi, master of Chinese painting Zhang Daqian, famous calligrapher Hu Xiaoshi and so on.

Li Ruiqing's philosophy of running a school is "regarding education as life, schools as families and students as children", and Liangjiang Normal School takes "chewing vegetable roots and doing great things" as its motto.

in p>1912, Li Ruiqing resigned as the supervisor of Liangjiang Normal School. When I left school, I saw some students living in poverty, and their hearts were very painful. Then I sold my horses and chariots and distributed the money to the poor students, so I remained uncorrupted and drifted away.

Li Ruiqing lived in Shanghai in his later years and died in 192. Because of his deep affection for Nanjing, according to his last words, disciple Hu Xiaoshi and Mr. Mei 'an's fellow countryman friend Zeng Nongzuo buried his body in Xuemeiling, Niushou Mountain, a suburb of Nanjing. There were 3 plums planted beside the tomb, and several rooms were built, named "Yumeihua Temple". After several wars after the Anti-Japanese War, Li's tomb was very dilapidated, and tombstones were scattered outside. Later, Cheng Jifu, a production team leader in Jiangning District, found it and picked up the tombstones and incense burners scattered outside. In order to prevent others from taking them away, he carefully placed the tombstones face down.

At the beginning of p>22, Cheng Jifu donated the original tablet to the archives of Nanjing University for free, and the original tablet has been placed in the tomb area according to the practice of cultural relics maintenance.

At the same time, Academician Chen Hongyuan of Nanjing University proposed to restore Li Ruiqing's tomb. Liu Cengfu, the grandson of Liu Yizhi, a professor of Central University, one of the predecessors of Nanjing University, and a professor of Chinese Department of Fudan University, also sent a letter to the media after seeing that the cemetery was very simple, calling on Jiangning District to take the opportunity of construction to repair Mr. Li Ruiqing's tomb together and reproduce the grand scene of "spring outing" outside Nanjing. Under the guidance of Nanjing Bureau of Cultural Relics and the support of Jiangning District Cultural Bureau, Nanjing University invested and designed, and the Jiangning District Cultural Bureau organized the construction. Finally, the brand-new tomb of Mr. Li Ruiqing was officially completed and unveiled in April 22, which made the world express their admiration for Mr. Li Ruiqing and other predecessors for laying and expanding the foundation of the school, and also expressed the firm belief that Nantah people will better inherit the fine traditions and strive to carry them forward under the new historical conditions.

On April 29th, 22, a ceremony was held in Niushoushan, Jiangning, Nanjing, for the completion and unveiling of the tomb of Li Ruiqing, a famous educator and calligrapher in modern China and the former president of "Liangjiang Normal School" of Nanjing University.
