The meaning of the surname "Natsume"

Natsume is the first surname in Japan 1003, and the Japanese pronunciation is Natsume.

Supposedly, surnames are nothing special, especially in Japan, where surnames are numerous and random. But celebrities like writer Natsume Sozaki (this is not a pseudonym) are so famous in Japan that they are called "great national writers". They have high attainments in both eastern and western cultures. They are all British scholars who are good at haiku, China's poems, calligraphy and painting. Maybe that's why the anime screenwriter took such a name, in order to appear more literary ~
