Celebrities in Tongli Ancient Town

From the fourth year of Chunyou in the Song Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, Tongli Town produced one scholar, 42 Jinshi, and more than 90 civil and military officials.

Ji Cheng: courtesy name Wu Xing, nickname Fu Tao Ren, was an outstanding garden artist in the Ming Dynasty. He was born in the Renwu Year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1582). He has been devoted to art since childhood and is good at calligraphy and painting.

Chen Wangdao: (1526-1576), became a Jinshi in the 44th year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1565), and went to Nanjing to supervise the censor. It is said that the folklore "Pearl Tower" is the story of Chen Wangdao's marriage to his daughter.

Zhu Heling (1601-1683) is the author of "Collected Poems of Yu'an", "Collected Works of Songling", "Annotations to the Collection of Du Gongbu", "Collection of Hanshan" and "Collection of Spring and Autumn Annals". There are also "Yi Guang Yi Lue", a research result on classics and Confucian Neo-Confucianism, and "Shang Shu Pi Zhuan", a research result of Sinology and Song Dynasty. In addition, he co-authored "The Book of Songs" with Chen Qiyuan of his hometown.

Lu Hui (Lianfu) 1851-1920, a native of the Qing Dynasty, was a member of the Wumen painting circle. He once formed a painting club with Wu Changshuo, Ni Tian, ??Wu Dacheng, Wang Tongyu, Gu Linshi, etc. in Gu's Yiyuan, devoted himself to business, and became a famous painter in Jiangnan in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

Chen Qubing (1874-1933) was originally named Qinglin, with the courtesy name Peiren and the nickname Chaonan. He was also named Bingqian and a diligent and simple old man. (The Municipal Cultural Protection Bureau has a calligraphy collection). Organized "Shenjiao Society" and "Autumn Society". One of the founders of the revolutionary literary group "Nanshe". He participated in the "Second Revolution" in 1913 and went to Guangdong with Sun Yat-sen in 1917 to "protect the law." He was a "man of the moment" in the Revolution of 1911 and a modern patriotic poet. He is the author of "Hao Ge Tang Shi Chao", "Xu Chao", "Wu Shi Zhi", "Bai Chi Lou Series", etc.

Jin Songcen (1874-1947), formerly known as Maoji, also known as Tianhe, Tianyu, nicknamed Zhuangyou, Hewang, pen name Tianfanglou master, freedom lover, Jin Yi, Qilin, etc. In his youth, he was enthusiastic about advocating bourgeois democratic revolution.
