Wei Siqin's Road to Art

Female calligraphy should be based on initial heart.

She was born in a small village in Wuhu. Her father's handwriting is good, but she is not a famous artist and has never given her deliberate guidance.

Because she likes painting and calligraphy, she has listened to some famous lectures in Wuhu in her spare time. A teacher found her very savvy and encouraged her to continue her studies. 1992, Wei Siqin came to Nanjing Art Institute to study calligraphy. Here, it seems that after years of ignorance, he was suddenly plugged into the right pulse and opened his mind. For three years, she has no distractions, reading and posting, writing from sunrise to sunset, and writing from dark to early morning.

The three years of Nanyi changed her usual life track. When I first entered school, I had the worst foundation, but when I graduated, I participated in the sixth national calligraphy and seal cutting exhibition and won the national prize. Among the 30 people who won the prize at that time, she was the only woman. The award made her know herself again, broke through all kinds of constraints and was full of self-confidence.

Prose becomes calligraphy.

If a word is used to describe Wei Siqin's calligraphy, it is "elegance". She used her skills with a very calm mind, tempered repeatedly with an aesthetic impulse, and poured her true nature into her pen, which was absolutely elegant. The famous calligrapher commented: "Wei's small letters have an ethereal and sparse beauty." The so-called spring breeze turns into rain and pear blossoms, and the breeze in the catkin pond is this charm. "

At the same time, Wei Siqin has taken a relatively open road, that is, writing cursive script in large font. In her cursive works, the weight of the pen, the dryness and wetness of the ink, and the speed all change in the movement, showing another atmosphere. A person has two aspects of pen and ink, dynamic and static combination, timely and appropriate use, quite tacit understanding.

In 2006, Wei Siqin won the Lanting Award, the highest calligraphy award in China. She was the only woman among the five people who won this honor. Wei Siqin works in Wuhu Painting and Calligraphy Institute. She admits that her works of art basically have a market and can live a quiet and peaceful life, so she is full of gratitude for life. The life after this experience made her feel more deeply about calligraphy. What she saw before was brushwork. Facing the works of different calligraphers, just like people with different personalities, the truth of the mind hidden between the lines seems to be more touching than stippling itself.

Becoming a monk halfway to learn calligraphy.

Wei Siqin has a father who loves art very much. Influenced by his father, Wei Siqin liked painting since he was a child. The scenery at the entrance to the village and the flowers and plants in the field are all her painting materials. Wei Siqin, 15 years old, was admitted to a normal school. Her dream of becoming a teacher in the future made her realize that a good teacher still needs to write with chalk, so from then on, Wei Siqin practiced calligraphy whenever she had time. However, Wei Siqin was not interested in calligraphy, and still regarded painting as the whole of his life. At that time, in Wuhu, Wei Siqin's paintings had won many awards. Wang Dong, the current chairman of Wuhu Book Association, thinks she has great potential and suggests that she go to the Art Institute for further study.

1992165438+10, Wei Siqin chose to study in the calligraphy class of Nanjing Art Institute. After three years of college life, Wei Siqin became the first student in the dormitory to get up and go to bed at the latest. When others go out to play on weekends, Wei Siqin often sits in the classroom and copies ancient inscriptions. "I don't know why during that time. Anyway, I am particularly fascinated by calligraphy. " Wei Siqin said with a giggle. It is this "charm" that enabled Wei Siqin to win the grand prize of the 6th National Calligraphy Exhibition when he graduated.

Looking for individuality from tradition

Friends who are familiar with Wei Siqin know that she is a traditional painter. But she can find the expression language of individuality from tradition: "Let others know it is your handwriting at a glance." In Wei Siqin's mind, the artistic conception of calligraphy is actually a person's mood. Whether it is elegant small letters or cursive script, from Wei Siqin's pen, the state, environment and life situation of her writing will be highlighted in the point studio.

Wei Siqin's calligraphy is full of classic chapters of Tang poetry and Song poetry, but she thinks it's better to write her own articles. Wei Siqin, who has published three collections of essays, feels so relaxed and comfortable by integrating the exquisiteness of prose into the flowing rhythm and ever-changing colors of calligraphy. Wei Siqin often copied her own words, and every time she showed and read, the past scenes would reappear in her mind. Those vivid beauties are transmitted to other readers through calligraphy, which Wei Siqin thinks is another kind of beauty besides calligraphy.
