The Law of the State on the Common Language and Characters stipulates that traditional Chinese characters can be used in the following situations: ① cultural relics and historic sites; ② Variant characters in surnames; 3 works of art such as calligraphy and seal cutting; (4) Inscription and signboard calligraphy; (five) publishing, teaching and scientific research needs; ⑥ Special circumstances approved by relevant departments in the State Council.
