Definition: A person’s name. (A.D. 1470-1560) His first name was Bi, with the character Xing and the other character Zhengzhong. His nickname was Hengshan. He was a native of Changzhou (now Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province) in the Ming Dynasty.

Wen Zhengming (November 28, 1470 - March 28, 1559), whose original name was Bi (or Zuobi), was given the courtesy name Zhengming. From the age of forty-two, he began to use the following characters: Zheng Zhong. Because his ancestors were from Hengshan, he was called Hengshan layman and was known as "Wenhengshan" in the world. He was a native of Changzhou County, Suzhou Prefecture (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province) under the jurisdiction of Nanzhili Province. A painter, calligrapher, writer, and collector of the Ming Dynasty.

Wen Zhengming once studied literature from Wu Kuan, calligraphy from Li Yingzhen, and painting from Shen Zhou. He failed the provincial examination nine times in his life. In the second year of Jiajing (1523), he participated in the civil service examination as a senior Gongsheng student and was awarded the post of imperial edict in the Hanlin Academy. In the fifth year of Jiajing reign (1526), ??Wen Zhengming resigned and returned to his hometown to devote himself to creation. ?

In February 20th of the thirty-eighth year of Jiajing (1559), Wen Zhengming died at the age of ninety. His disciples privately gave him the posthumous title Zhenxian.

Wen Zhengming was excellent in poetry, literature, calligraphy and painting, and was known as the "Four Wonders". He and Shen Zhou co-founded the "Wu School". In the history of painting, together with Shen Zhou, Tang Yin and Qiu Ying, they are known as the "Four Ming Masters". In literature, together with Zhu Yunming, Tang Yin and Xu Zhenqing, he is known as the "Four Talents in Wuzhong".
