History of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology
University of Shanghai for Science and Technology has a long history. Hujiang University, founded in 1906, takes "faith and love" as its motto. Tongji Devon Medical College was founded in 1907. After World War I, its original site was changed to China-France National Institute of Technology, which took "loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, faithfulness and harmony" as its motto. Holding the ambition of self-improvement, holding high the banner of rejuvenating the country through education and taking the road of national rejuvenation are the unchangeable pursuits of several generations of literati. Even after vicissitudes of life, I will be calm and correct, and I will never forget the sacred duty of teaching and educating people and educating a strong country. Over the past century, training 70,000 students is the crystallization of the humanistic concept of "faithfulness, loyalty and diligence". Faith is faith, faithfulness, faithfulness, respect for truth, honesty without deceit; Righteousness, that is, benevolence, righteousness, wisdom, obedience, and righteousness, once upon a time in the United States, I was brave; Diligence means diligence, diligence means diligence, diligence means diligence, and diligence means diligence. Love needs elegance, fraternity, self-cultivation, love for morality and patriotic dedication. As the school celebrates its centenary, we are standing at a new historical starting point and looking forward to the next century. Can we not be submerged? The century-old humanistic concept will be endowed with new vitality, and "faithfulness, diligence, love, thinking and learning" are the essence of the future. Confucius said, "Learning without thinking is useless, and thinking without learning is dangerous." As a scholar, we should think carefully, distinguish right from wrong, guide learning with thinking, innovate with thinking and promote change with thinking. Learning is like climbing a mountain. If you move, you will become taller. If you learn to become rich, you will become taller. Learning is endless, and it is true. The ancients said: "People are not in the desert, the heart is not in the desert, and silence is not in the distance." Aspiring is the starting point of learning and the foundation of career. Those who seek fame and gain cannot have the wisdom to govern the country. Young people will be better than Europe and better than the earth. Even in my old age, I still aim for a thousand miles. So, if you are far-sighted, dedicated, far-sighted and determined to make a difference. Cherish every inch of grass, think about the prosperity of the school and look forward to the prosperity of the motherland, which is the common wish of today's students. Yongquan Huiyuan gathers the strength of all people, and * * * will create another century of glory. Let's love our school, cherish our motherland, look at the world and face the future. * * * I wish Shanghai University of Technology a better tomorrow. Note: Wen Zi, a disciple of Laozi, said, "No indifference is unwise, and no peace is not far away". Liu An in the Western Han Dynasty's Notes on Huai Nan Zi: "It's not desert, unclear, restless and not far away." Zhuge Liang of the Three Kingdoms "Commandment": "A gentleman's trip is quiet to cultivate one's morality, and frugal to cultivate one's morality. If you are not indifferent, you will have no ambition, and if you are not quiet, you will be far away.
