Li Zhimin's motto of Peking University (style of study): diligence, preciseness, realism and innovation
Li Zhimin (1925-1994), a professor of law in Peking University, a famous civil jurist, was the first president of Peking University Yanyuan Calligraphy and Painting Association (predecessor of Peking University Calligraphy and Painting Association). In his early years, he studied calligraphy and painting in Wuchang Art College, and then specialized in calligraphy. He is a contemporary cursive master in China, a famous calligraphy theorist during the reform and opening up period, a director of China Calligraphers Association, a deputy director of the Art Committee of China Calligraphers Association, and the first vice chairman of Beijing Calligraphers Association. He is an expert in literature and history, and is good at real cursive script and artistic theory, especially crazy cursive script. He is the theoretical pioneer and practical pioneer of "introducing a monument into the grass". Together with Shen Yinmo, they are called "two masters in the history of calligraphy in Peking University", and they have the reputation of "Southern Forest and Northern Plum" (Lin Sanzhi and Li Zhimin) in contemporary cursive script, and they are also called "Contemporary Grass Sage" with Lin Sanzhi.
