During the Qianlong period, Sun Ranweng wrote a couplet with the word 180 for it, which was known as "the first couplet in the world". It was written by Lu Shutang, a famous scholar, and Mao Zedong rated it as "unprecedented". Daguanlou has become one of the four famous buildings in China, along with Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower and Stork Tower.
In the eighth year of Daoguang (1828), Daguan Building was renovated and added with three floors. In the third year of Xianfeng (1853), Emperor Xianfeng inscribed the plaque "Pulling a Thousand Layers of Waves", and in the seventh year of Xianfeng (1857), Changlian and the building were destroyed by soldiers.
It was rebuilt in five years of Tongzhi (1866) and in nine years of Guangxu (1883). In the 14th year of Guangxu (1888), Zhao Fanzhong published Long Lian in regular script. Daguanlou was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit in Yunnan Province in 1983, and as a national key cultural relics protection unit (the seventh batch) in 20 13.

197.4 mu of land near the garden west was requisitioned by the provincial and municipal governments in order to welcome the' 99 World Horticultural Exposition, and the Grand View West Garden was opened. The Grand View Garden, with the theme of Changlian history and culture, is a large-scale scenic spot on the north bank of Caohai Lake in Dianchi Lake, which is divided into three parts: the cultural relics near the flower garden, the Chinese and western gardens in Nanyuan and the modern gardens in Xiyuan.
East Garden is located in the east of the flower garden, and consists of two private gardens, namely Autumn Garden and Baiyuan Garden. Daguan River enters Caohai Waterway of Dianchi Lake in the east and south. Lotus ponds crisscross the garden, surrounded by willows, and the scenery is deep. There is a "small view building" with double eaves on all sides and a park management office on the bank of the lotus pond willow.
Daguanyuan bonsai garden covers an area of 4,500 square meters and is the largest bonsai garden in Kunming. There are lush trees, birds and flowers, mountains and rivers, pavilions and promenades, and all kinds of bonsai are scattered all over the place. Beside the winding pink walls and winding pavilions, there are bonsai of trees and rocks.
