Xinjiang Art College, located in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is the only comprehensive art college in the northwest of China, one of the seven comprehensive art colleges in China, one of the 30 independent undergraduate art colleges stipulated by the Ministry of Education, and one of the first members of the China-ASEAN Art College Alliance and the European Union Art College Alliance. It is listed as a characteristic university and key discipline in the autonomous region, and Xinjiang is supported by the Central Conservatory of Music, the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Communication University of China.
The college, formerly known as Xinjiang Art School, was founded in 1958. 1960, upgraded to Xinjiang Art Institute. 1962, reorganized into Xinjiang Art School. 1987, Xinjiang Art College was re-established with the approval of the former State Education Commission. In 2002, the college passed the "random level evaluation of undergraduate teaching" by the Ministry of Education. In 2007, it was rated as excellent in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education. In 20 13, the college became a master's degree awarding unit. In 20 14, the college recruited graduate students for the whole country.
The school has three campuses: Tuanjie Road East Campus, West Campus and Jinqiao Road Jinqiao Campus, covering an area of 958 mu. At present, there are 12 teaching units, including Conservatory of Music, Dance Academy, Academy of Fine Arts, Design Academy, Calligraphy Academy, Media Academy, Drama and Television Academy, Culture and Art Academy, Marxism Academy, Ministry of Basic Education, Adult (Continuing) Education Academy and affiliated secondary art schools.
The college has two master's degree programs in first-class disciplines: music, dance and art. Three two disciplines degree programs: Music, Dance and Fine Arts. Fine arts was rated as the key discipline of art in the autonomous region.
In 2000, the college was rated as "the national advanced unit of school art education" and approved by the Education Department of the autonomous region as "the training base for art teachers in Xinjiang universities". In 2002, the college passed the "random level evaluation of undergraduate teaching" by the Ministry of Education. At the time of admission, the college comprehensively measures the candidates' culture, professional achievements and moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic conditions, and selects the best candidates.
In June 2007, the college passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Education and successfully completed the evaluation and acceptance. At the same time, it won the second prize of national teaching achievement 1, the first prize of autonomous region teaching achievement 1 and the third prize of autonomous region teaching achievement 1.
