Calligraphy holy land Lanting
Lanting is located at the foot of Zhu Lan Mountain in the southwest of Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province 14 km. It is the residence of Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. This area is a scenic spot on Yin Shan Road, with "continuous mountains and rivers, lush forests, bamboo forests, clear streams and swift streams". According to legend, Gou Jian, the king of Yue, planted orchids here in the Spring and Autumn Period, and set up a post pavilion in the Han Dynasty, hence the name Lanting. The current site was rebuilt by Shen Qi, the county magistrate in the 27th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (l548 AD), and was completely restored in 1980. Lanting is a famous calligraphy shrine, a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit and a national AAAA-level tourist area. Gou Jian planted orchids here in the Spring and Autumn Period, and there was a post pavilion in the Eastern Han Dynasty, hence the name Lanting. In the 9th year of Yonghe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Wang Xizhi, a great calligrapher, invited forty-two scholars to hold a meeting in Lanting and wrote Preface to Lanting Collection, which was known as "the best running script in the world". Wang Xizhi was honored as a calligrapher, and Lanting became a holy place for calligraphy. Historically, the original site of Lanting has undergone several changes. Now Lanting was rebuilt by Shen Qi, the county magistrate in Jiajing period, according to the former site of Lanting in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, which basically maintained the garden architectural style of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Today, Lanting, with its beautiful landscape, elegant garden landscape, exclusive title and rich historical and cultural accumulation, is well-known at home and abroad for its four characteristics of "quiet scenery, elegant things, strange writing and strange books". It is an important scenic spot in China and one of the four famous pavilions in China. Its connotation can be summarized by "preface", "three monuments" and "eleven scenes": "preface" is the preface of Lanting; "Three Monuments" are Echi Monument, Lanting Monument and Imperial Monument; The "Eleven Scenes" are Goose Pond, Xiaolan Pavilion, Qushui Liuxiang, Shangliu Pavilion, Yubei Pavilion, Linchi Eighteen Cylinder, Wang Youjun Temple, Calligraphy Museum, Guyi Pavilion, Zhizhen and Le Chi.
