Wei Chuyu was born in 1945. Famous painter, calligrapher, stamp designer and professor of Xu Beihong Art College of Renmin University of China. He studied under Yan Wenliang, Pan Tianshou, Lin Fengmian, Ni Yide, Luo Gongliu and Chen Dayu. He has served as an art creator in the Nanjing Army of the People's Liberation Army and the Art Workshop of the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army. Member of China Artists Association. Member of China Calligraphers Association. Director of Japan International Ink Painting Exchange Association, and consultant of Macao Senior Painting and Calligraphy Association.
