Zeng Guofan, as a Han official, cut off his long hair, abolished the Xiang army and handled the Tianjin case, which left him with a bad reputation and suppressed the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, leaving a bad impression on some historians. As a result, the great man of this feudal society declined.

What I see in this book is Zeng Guofan's talent for fighting, his ability to do things, and the loneliness around him. Why can a scholar like Zeng Guofan win the honor with the achievements of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom? Zeng Guofan himself admitted that he was a scholar and could not lead troops to fight. He felt that he didn't have Wang Yangming's ability, and whenever there was a war, he was defeated, but he was not there, and he was bound to win. Zeng Guofan was deeply touched by this. Once there is a big military action, he will not appear on the scene. It is not surprising that Zeng Guofan was cautious all his life. The bigger the officer, the more cautious he is. As he himself said, "It is better to obey and forgive others than to be respectful. Respect is cautious, forgiveness is to leave room for others, not to live alone or to shirk. " He is an official who is loyal to the Lord and has not forgotten the mission of the country because of ethnic differences. His couplets, letters from home and calligraphy have been handed down. Zeng Guofan is really a very powerful person. Maybe history is really unfair to him. Camford is a talented person in the book, but the misunderstanding between him and Zeng Guofan has not been resolved until his death, which is really regrettable.
