Second, the running script is a font between cursive and regular script. In order not to waste time, when people write something that is not very important, they tend to write freely and casually, so they write quickly, but at the same time, they should keep the form of regular characters. This is a running script. Its characteristic is to use Lian Bi appropriately and save strokes on the premise of keeping the outline of regular script. Running script has no strict writing rules. Running script is called when there are many regular script elements and few cursive script elements, while running script is called when there are few regular script elements and many cursive script elements.
Thirdly, Lian Bi is widely used in cursive script. In order to write quickly, only the outline of the word is reserved, which is difficult for ordinary people to recognize, thus affecting its communicative function. Therefore, although cursive script appeared earlier, it has never become a universal font, but it has always been loved by people as one of the calligraphy arts. Calligraphers who are good at cursive script include Zhang Zhi, Zhang Xu and Huai Su.
4. There are many excellent running scripts handed down from ancient China. For example, Wang Xizhi's Preface to the Lanting Pavilion has always been regarded as the first running script, but unfortunately it has never been handed down (it is said that after Emperor Taizong, who loved Wang's calligraphy, ordered the courtiers to copy it, but kept the original secret and let him be buried after his death). Now I can only see the calligrapher's copy. However, due to the high level of copying, its delicate rules and clean style have been preserved. Yan Zhenqing's "Sacrificing a Nephew" is full of vigor and poise, and some people call it the second running script.
