The Central Academy of Fine Arts is the only art college directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). 1950 was formed in April by the merger of three art departments of the National Beiping Art Institute and North China University. The name of the institute was Mao Zedong. The history of Beiping Art College can be traced back to the National Beijing Academy of Fine Arts, which was founded in 19 18 under the active advocacy of the famous educator Mr. Cai Yuanpei. This is the first national art education institution in the history of China and the beginning of modern art education in China. The predecessor of the Fine Arts Department of North China University was the "Lu Yi" Fine Arts Department founded by 1938 in Yan 'an. Famous artists such as Xu Beihong, Jiang Feng, Wu Zuoren, Gu Yuan, etc. have successively served as presidents of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, while Hu Yichuan, Zhong, Hongbo, Yang Li, Sheng Yang, Yang Li and others have successively served as party secretaries of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Undergraduate majors cover Chinese painting, calligraphy, oil painting, printmaking, sculpture, mural painting, experimental art, animation and image design, graphic design, product design, fashion design, photography art, digital media art, jewelry design, ceramic design, information design, space design, home product design, industrial product design, vehicle design, architectural design, interior design, landscape design, art history theory and design. The college recruits secondary school students (attached middle schools), junior college students (adult education), undergraduates, master students, doctoral students and various advanced students every year. At present, there are 572 on-the-job faculty members, more than 4,700 undergraduate and graduate students, and more than 0/00 international students from more than a dozen countries. The Central Academy of Fine Arts has well-equipped classrooms, professional experimental workshops (laboratories), libraries, art galleries, gymnasiums, multimedia classrooms and other teaching facilities. This library is one of the most advanced art libraries in China, with a collection of nearly 400,000 volumes. There are precious collections in the art collection, including more than 2,000 scroll paintings since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The art museum also regularly holds exhibitions of teachers and students' works and undertakes art exhibitions with high academic level at home and abroad. In addition, gymnasiums and multimedia classrooms can meet all the teaching requirements well. The teaching and research area of the Central Academy of Fine Arts covers an area of 495 mu with a total construction area of 247,000 square meters. Among them, Wangjing Campus covers an area of 205 mu, with a building area of 1.44 million square meters; Yanjiao Campus covers an area of 205 mu with a building area of 68,000 square meters. Houshayu Campus covers an area of 67 mu with a building area of 29,000 square meters. Xiaoying campus covers an area of 18 mu, with a building area of 6000 square meters.

In 2004, the college began to try out the credit system teaching management and the new teaching college calendar, with 38 teaching weeks and 3 semesters each year. The first semester is 20 weeks, which mainly arranges compulsory courses stipulated by schools and professional colleges; The second semester 10 week, mainly arranges various professional courses and off-campus teaching courses; The third semester lasts for 8 weeks, and the main elective courses and public elective courses are mainly arranged by the school.
