Shanghai exhibition area displays regular script, cursive script and official script; Running script, seal script, seal cutting and lettering were exhibited in Guangxi exhibition area.
The tenth national exhibition of calligraphy and seal cutting works was held under the situation that the whole country conscientiously studied and implemented the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth Central Committee. As a comprehensive exhibition with the highest specifications in China's calligraphy field every four years, the National Exhibition is a hall for artistic exchanges between calligraphers and calligraphy lovers all over the country. Every "national exhibition" in China's calligraphy industry will cause great sensation, and will play an important role in producing fine works, creating new people, prospering creation, deepening research and popularizing mass calligraphy activities, and promoting the development of calligraphy art industry. The number of participants in this "National Exhibition", the high selection criteria for selected works and the comprehensive display of contemporary calligraphy art achievements are rare in previous national exhibitions. After more than 30 years of practice, exploration and summary, the "National Exhibition" has formed a relatively perfect selection, award and exhibition mechanism, its high specification and academic taste have been recognized, and its function of guiding creation and leading book style has become increasingly apparent.
From the end of March to mid-August of 201/kloc-0, the 10th National Exhibition * * received 30,938 submissions from 24,527 calligraphers and calligraphy lovers from all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China and overseas. After careful selection by the judges and online publicity, a total of 394 works entered the exhibition, including 24 excellent works. At the end of August, the national exhibition was evaluated. This review refined the review procedure and the selection method of judges, established a working mechanism of "separation of two powers" between organizing review and academic follow-up, and gave full play to the role of the Supervisory Committee and academic observers. The judges adhere to high standards and strict requirements, and adhere to the principles of sunshine, standardization, academics and harmony. After preliminary evaluation, final evaluation and soliciting opinions, the evaluation of the tenth national exhibition was completed. Looking at the works of this national exhibition, it is not difficult to see that the creators have studied the calligraphy tradition more deeply than before, and made bold innovations on the basis of inheriting the tradition. Many authors pay more attention to the sense of form and visual effect of their works, and are more subtle and precise in the arrangement and splicing of paper colors and formats. As a creative way with large space and diverse font combinations, fine print has become the fashion of calligraphy creation. The cursive works exhibited in Shanghai exhibition area have different styles and trends, revealing the diversified aesthetic orientation of contemporary people. Comparatively speaking, regular script has no significant changes and progress. The phenomenon that award-winning authors become younger is more and more prominent year by year, which shows the gratifying situation that there are many talented people and successors in China calligraphy circle.
After the opening ceremony, Li Jinhua and other leaders, accompanied by Zhang Hai, Zhao Changqing and Zhou Zhigao, watched the exhibition with great interest. Because the two regions jointly held the national exhibition, the Shanghai Calligraphy Association specially arranged for all the winning works in the Guangxi exhibition area to be exhibited at the same time, so that calligraphy lovers who came to Shanghai to watch the national exhibition could see the whole picture of the winning works, which showed the good intentions of the organizers of the Shanghai exhibition area. The exhibition hall was crowded with people, and the audience who came to watch the exhibition was in an endless stream. According to the estimation of Shanghai Book Association, the audience on the first day of the exhibition can exceed 20,000.
At the same time as the 10th National Calligraphy Seal Cutting Exhibition, Shanghai Calligraphy Association also organized other forms of calligraphy peripheral exhibitions, such as the "Hundred Paintings Exhibition of Shanghai Style Calligraphy in the Hundred Years" held at the same venue as the 10th National Exhibition, which showed the development track of Shanghai style calligraphy in the past 100 years. These modern works are exhibited together with contemporary works, creating a rich cultural atmosphere. In addition, there are activities such as the Xingzhi Cup Painting and Calligraphy Competition, which presents a colorful cultural and artistic feast for the cultural life of Shanghai residents.
On the day of the exhibition, the 10th National Exhibition of Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Works (Two Volumes) published by Shanghai Calligraphy and Painting Publishing House was officially released. In order to reflect the cultural theme of the 10th National Exhibition, banners have been hung on telephone poles on viaducts and billboards in public places in Shanghai, and the media such as Wen Wei Po and Xinmin Evening News vigorously promoted this National Exhibition in the form of special-page public service advertisements.
