Who invented official script?

According to legend, it was compiled by Cheng Miao and reached its peak in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Calligraphy is called "Han Li Tang Kai", and Lishu originated in the Qin Dynasty. Cheng Miao, whose date of birth and death is unknown, has different opinions, only knowing that he was from the Qin Shihuang era.

According to legend, he invented the official script, but in the northern Wei Dynasty, Li Daoyuan mentioned the discussion about unearthed cultural relics in the Notes on Water Classics. The wooden slips unearthed in Qingchuan and Qin bamboo slips unearthed in Tianshui Fangmatan in recent years prove that the official script in the Warring States period has taken shape, so now it is said that Cheng Miao arranged the official script.

Extended data:

Lishu is one of the eight styles in Qin Shu, with a slightly flat writing effect, long horizontal and short straight, rectangular shape, and paying attention to "silkworm head and goose tail" and "twists and turns".

Li Bian is the evolution of Chinese characters from Xiao Zhuan to Li Shu, which happened during the Qin and Han Dynasties. It is a turning point in the development of Chinese characters and has a great influence on later Chinese characters. Before Xiao Zhuan, China characters still followed the principle of "six characters", while Han Li no longer followed the principle of "six characters" and changed the font by himself [2]. Modern writing methods of regular script and running script are not far from those after the official reform.
