At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the society was in turmoil. Cai Wenji married Wei Zhongdao for the first time, but later returned to her mother's house because she had no children and her husband died. Due to the invasion of Xiongnu, Cai Wenji was exiled to the southern Xiongnu, married the tiger-like Zuo, gave birth to two sons, and suffered from a foreign land.
Cai Wenji has been trapped in the frontier for a long time, separated from her old country, Zhaojun, Rainbow. She was adrift and lonely. She misses her hometown, but as a weak woman, it is difficult for her to escape from the shackles of the Huns, and even more unable to reverse her fate.
After wandering outside Cai Wenji for 12 years, Cao Cao unified the north. Because of his kindness, Cao Cao immediately redeemed Cai Yong's daughter Cai Wenji with a large sum of money after hearing that she had been taken to the Great Wall. However, Cai Wenji's two sons could not return to the Central Plains with their mother, and they wanted to stay in the land of Xiongnu. Cai Wenji's ecstasy was immediately replaced by the sadness of separation of flesh and blood. In contradiction, she created a long narrative poem "Eighteen Beats of Hu Jia".
