The word "divination" in oracle bone inscriptions is the pictogram of omen pattern. Shi Zhuo means divination. People use the divination-shaped omen pattern composed of omen stems and omen branches to judge the success or failure of the matter in question. On the front of the oracle bone and next to the omen pattern, the contents of the divination are recorded in words, which is called divination. This is a complicated but rigorous procedure. The carving of inscriptions follows a strict set of procedures, which also established the original writing rules of Chinese calligraphy.
