Characters experience of Shen Jinshou

Shen Jinshou is the great-grandson of Shen Baozhen and Lin Zexu. Born in Hong Kong, he spent his youth in Guangdong and Hong Kong. He returned to Fuzhou at the age of 18 and moved to his ancestral home. 1933 graduated from the Law Department of Fujian University with a bachelor's degree in law. During the Republic of China, he served as the secretary of Xiamen police department, and later worked in various branches of Postal Savings Bank Bureau for a long time, serving as the chief clerk, section chief and section chief. After People's Republic of China (PRC) was founded, he was a member of China Artists Association, China Calligraphers Association, the first Council member of China Philatelic Federation and the Fujian Provincial Political Consultative Conference. 1980 was employed by the Fujian Provincial People's Government as a librarian of Fujian Literature and History Research Institute, vice chairman and consultant of Fujian Calligraphers Association, vice president of Fuzhou Painting Academy, president of Fuzhou Jiang Fa Seal Cutting Research Association, chairman and honorary chairman of Fuzhou Calligraphers Association, and national first-class artist. Shen Jinshou lived in the old and new times. On the one hand, he was influenced by traditional culture, on the other hand, he was educated by western culture. He was clever and versatile since he was a child, but he resolutely devoted himself to calligraphy with the greatest enthusiasm and lifelong energy, and became an outstanding and far-reaching calligrapher in China in the 20th century, forming a pure and powerful calligraphy world of Shen Jinshou. His thorough understanding and interpretation of excellent traditions, his style and personality, and the cultural spirit of the generation he represents are all enlightening. Stone, calligraphy and painting are all long, and their achievements in calligraphy are particularly outstanding, especially the skills of Chu style. His calligraphy works have been exhibited at home and abroad for many times and won awards. He was selected as one of the famous old calligraphers in China in the 20th century, such as Forest of Steles on the Yellow River and China New Culture Series-Calligraphy Collection.
