In the early 1980s, when Wuhan rebuilt the Yellow Crane Tower, the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles invited famous national cultural predecessors to participate in the cultural construction of the Yellow Crane Tower. At that time, it was decided to invite Shu Tong, a famous calligrapher in China and then chairman of the Calligraphy Association, to write a plaque for the Yellow Crane Tower.
Now Shu Tong's Monument to the Yellow Crane Tower and the Yellow Crane Tower complement each other and become one of the indispensable cultural essences of the Yellow Crane Tower.
