Memories of Weng Tonghe's descendants

Weng Tonghe's former residence, also known as "Weng Tonghe Memorial Hall", is a well-preserved bureaucratic residence with typical architectural style in the south of the Yangtze River, where Weng Tonghe spent his adolescence. 1990, Mr. Weng Xingqing (Wan Ge), the great grandson of Chinese American Weng Tonghe, devoted his career to the country. On 1996, the main building, Caiyitang, was announced by the State Council as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Weng Tonghe Memorial Hall is located in Wengjia Lane, Changshu Ancient City. It was rebuilt from Weng's former residence and officially opened to the public on 199 1+0 1.

Weng's former residence covers an area of 6,000 square meters with a building area of 3,500 square meters. Its architectural design follows the central axis pattern of the official residence in ancient China, which is divided into three parts: East, Middle and West. After entering the middle part through the gate, along the central axis, there are hall, sedan chair hall, colorful clothes hall, back hall building and Shuangguixuan in turn, with seven entrances. Among them, the sedan chair hall is used to rest sedan chairs and prepare tea.

The exhibition contents of Weng Tonghe Memorial Hall mainly include: Weng Tonghe's life story; Weng Tonghe's cultural relics and calligraphy; Weng Tonghe's main works and papers and materials about Weng Tonghe at home and abroad. At the same time, it is supplemented by the mahogany furniture furnishings in the Qing Dynasty that reflect the original historical appearance. Weng Tonghe's tomb is located at the foot of Yuge Peak in Yushan, about 7 kilometers west of the city, adjacent to his father Weng Xincun's tomb. There are Luocheng, a tomb, an altar and a pyramid-shaped mound. At the back of the tomb stands a lime stone tablet, which is 132.5cm high, 48cm wide and 10.5cm thick, engraved with the words "Three-point sympathy between Yishan and You Mao" and "The Qing Emperor granted Dr. Guanglu a special examination for the great-grandfather of the university". 1949 after repeated maintenance. Its tomb is located in the north and south, and the tomb road twists and turns to the south, about 65 meters long. Cross the piedmont highway frame 1984, rebuild the single-room soaring granite square, and engrave "Weng's New Bridge". The cypress trees around the tomb city are quite beautiful and the scenery is excellent. There is Weng's ancestral temple on the south side of the highway around the mountain. 1982 was announced as a provincial cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu province in March.
