? In class, I often tell students that when going to Longmen Grottoes, besides going to Fengxian Temple to pay homage to the giant Buddha of Lushena, we must visit Guyang Cave, the first cave in Longmen. According to historical records, "it was dug in the seventeenth year of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 493)". Weibei represents Longmen with 20 products, and 19 products are here (and one product is in Cixiang Cave).
The ancients said: "Those who stand on the monument are humble, firm and modest." . The original intention is to remember important things with hard stone carvings for a long time. Monument, that is, "preparation", has been set up on the monument and is a record of history. "Therefore, it is not only a treasure in calligraphy art, but also provides a broad resource for studying history." "Twenty products of Longmen" refers to the inscriptions of twenty statues selected from Longmen Grottoes in the Middle and Northern Wei Dynasties. Is a typical "Wei Bei". Most of these statues are princes, nobles, senior officials and Taoist priests of the Northern Wei Dynasty. They sang praises for Emperor Xiaowen, or opened shrines to pray for disaster relief. The appellation of "Twenty Products" was first seen in Kang Youwei's Guang Yi Zhoubi Collection and Fang Ruo's Essays on School Monuments in Qing Dynasty. The so-called "quality" comes from "Shupin" written by Liang Yu Jianwu in the Southern Dynasties: "That is, the quality of calligraphy can be applied to the law. "It can be seen that its achievements are high." "Longmen Twenty Products" is the representative work of Wei Bei's calligraphy. It inherited Han Li and opened Tang Kai, which has the charm of Li Kai. It is the essence of calligraphy art in the Northern Wei Dynasty, and it is also the unique artistic crystallization of unknown calligraphers in ancient China.
From the south gate of Longmen Grottoes, on the wall to the west of Shuiman Bridge, I finally saw the stone rubbings of "Longmen Twenty Products". Looking at it from close range for the first time, the structure is rigorous and the brushwork is heavy. It is completely different from Tang Kai's handsome show, revealing the unique vigor, strength and heavy spirit of northerners. Its ingenious beauty makes the book world look unconventional, fresh and refined, showing a grand image of erudition. Kang Youwei praised Wei Bei's "Ten Beauties": "Bold and powerful, with a muddy atmosphere, leaping brushwork, solemn and heavy stippling, fantastic artistic conception, flying spirit, full of interest, profound bone technique, natural structure and rich flesh and blood". He also said that "all good people in Wei Bei can choose Wei statues to learn from the scriptures, and they have been able to write their own books." It can be seen that the only way to learn calligraphy is to write traditional classic inscriptions.
Kang Youwei called Longmen Stone Carvings "magnificent, ambitious and well-organized in Fang Bi". I especially like the stone statues and statues in the Twenty Classics of Longmen. The former is a masterpiece of Longmen stone carving. The difference between this monument and other monuments is that the whole monument is carved on the front, word for word, which is unique in the history of stone carving and sculpture. This inscription is vigorous in brushwork, rigorous and flat in structure, vigorous and full in brushwork, angular, magnificent and extraordinary in momentum, and is regarded as the representative of Weibei and vigorous wind. The style of this statue is very similar to that of stone. In the aspect of calligraphy appreciation, it is used, but the tightness is slightly lighter than that of stone, which may be the reason why the male seal is different from the female seal. The inscriptions on these statues of the Northern Wei Dynasty make people feel full of ancient meaning and composure. No matter how many new changes in calligraphy style are contained in it, just saying the meteorological spirit in the inscription really makes us yearn for it.
Weibei is a transition from Lishu to Tang Kai. Weibei is somewhere in between: naive, muscular, strong and flexible. Infiltrated with northerners' unpretentious style and vigorous spirit of integrity. Just as Yuefu in the Southern Dynasties was euphemistic and delicate, with deep feelings. The folk songs of the Northern Dynasties are clear and vigorous.
However, a man should be as smart and clumsy as Wei Bei, open-minded, simple and bold, vigorous and heroic ~
