Yiyuan Garden was built in Tongzhi and Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty. Gu Wenbin, Shaotai Road, Ningshao, Zhejiang Province, took nine years to build on the former residence of Shangshu Wu Kuan in Ming Dynasty, costing 202,000 yuan. Take the meaning of "all brothers are happy" in the Analects of Confucius and name it Yiyuan.
The park was built by his son Gu Cheng, and painters Ren Fuchang, Gu Yun, Wang Yun, Fan Yinquan and Cheng participated in the planning and design. Every stone and every pavilion in the garden was drawn up first, and it was decided after consultation with Gu Wenbin. After the garden was completed, many celebrities from the south of the Yangtze River came to Ji Ya, which was a famous period of time. In the 21st year of Guangxu (1895), Gu, the son of Gu Cheng, and Wu Da, Lu Lianfu, Zheng, Wu Changshuo and others created an Art Garden Collection in the garden. After Gu died of illness, the garden gradually declined. The damage was particularly serious during the Japanese Puppet period, and the antique calligraphy and painting in the park were looted. In the 1940s, Yiyuan Garden became a playground, known as "Suzhou World". 1September, 949, the ninth regiment of the second corps of East China University of Military and Political Affairs was stationed here. 1950 the new Suzhou newspaper was founded here. 1953 65438+ In February, Gu Gongshuo, the son of Gu, presented a heritage garden to the country. Resident units moved out, the municipal government allocated funds to maintain and open tours.
Yiyuan Garden covers an area of 6,270 square meters, which is small, but it can absorb the strengths of various gardens, skillfully set up the landscape and form its own style. The layout of the garden is divided into east and west parts, separated by cloisters in the middle and buildings in the east. Lake stone flowers and trees are placed in the courtyard, with Xichi in the middle and rockery flowers and trees and buildings around. In gardening art, Yiyuan Garden can learn from various garden landscapes, such as colonnade imitating Canglang Pavilion, master garden of pool net, rockery imitating Huanxiu Villa, cave dwelling imitating Lion Forest, dry boat imitating Humble Administrator's Garden and so on. The layout is natural, the pavilions are small and elegant, and the flowers and trees in the mountain pool are sparse and pleasant, which can be called the boutique in the garden. The garden in the west is based on the stupid government, and the pond is dug in the north. The main building in the south of the pond is the Lotus Fish Pavilion, the center of the garden. The stacked stones in the northwest refer to Huanxiu Mountain Villa, where lions are surrounded by mountains, valleys, evasive songs and strange grottoes. There are various cultural landscapes in the building, such as Qifeng Pavilion in Wu Bi, Huafangzhai Pavilion, Peony Pavilion, Noodle Restaurant, Xiaocanglang Pavilion, Luoji Pavilion and Jinli Pavilion, especially the calligraphy art embedded in the corridor wall has become the crown of Suzhou gardens.
