Another way is to develop into another form of the word "水" in late Zhou Dynasty bronze inscriptions (putting the shape of the word "water" horizontally, Figure A1), and then to the ancient Li (i.e. Qin Dynasty) The character "水" (Picture A2) in Li) connects water flowers and water beads into a horizontal line and narrows the shape of the character; when it develops into the character "水" (Picture A3) in Han Li, it becomes three-dot water. Pang (氵) has become the shape Pang (氵) that expresses the meaning in the phonetic character.
In terms of glyphs:
The shape of the word "water" in oracle bone inscriptions is different, but the basic shape is like the shape of water flowing meanderingly; the dots on both sides are like water droplets, indicating the curvature of water flow. The pen may have many twists and turns, or may be made in a compound form, or may be bent to the left or right, indicating that the number of water droplets may be more or less, which makes no difference in meaning. Developed to the word "water" in early bronze inscriptions, the curved diagonal line in "water" represents the main stream of the river, and the four points on both sides represent water splashes and water beads.
Since then, the development of the word "水" can be divided into two paths: one path is from the Warring States characters (Figure 5, Figure 6, Figure 7) to the character "水" in Xiaozhuan (water flowers and water beads). Become a line, Figure 8, Figure B), and then develop into the character "水" in official script (change the entire character from a line to a stroke, Figure 9, Figure 10, Figure 11, Figure 12, Figure C) and The character "水" in regular script (Figure D) has become a single character.
