From the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Three Kingdoms, to the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, it spanned three to four hundred years of history. During this period, the Jin Dynasty was even very chaotic, but the product they left us may be the male god we call him. The only people who can remember that period of history are these handsome literary men who drank alcohol and took chemical drugs.
Speaking of Ji Kang, we have to talk about the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove. The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove refer to the seven celebrities in the late Wei and early Jin Dynasties: Ruan Jiji, Kang Shantao, Liu Ling, Ruan Xian, Xiang Xiu, Wang Rong.
Let’s first introduce where Ji Kang is from. Ji Kang (224 to 263 AD, some say 223 to 262 AD.) His name is Shu Ye, Qiao Guo Zhi A native of the county (now Suixi County, Anhui Province) was a famous thinker, musician, and writer.
To talk about his excellence, perhaps we should say that he was more tolerant than modern people. He was eating biochemical products, practicing health care, reciting poems and playing the piano, and was drunk and dreaming of death. To put it bluntly, these are all manifestations of dissatisfaction with current affairs. Sima Zhao once wanted Ji Kang to use him, but Ji Kang firmly rejected him. Zhong Hui went to visit Ji Kang and received a cold reception from him.
Shan Tao of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest also recommended Ji Kang to replace him, but Ji Kang wrote the "Book of Breaking Diplomacy with Shan Juyuan" and listed seven unworthy and two incompetent circumstances for him, and he resolutely refused to take up an official position.
Later, because the wife of his good friend Lu An was defiled by Lu An’s elder brother, Ji Kang and the Lu brothers were in a relationship and advised Lu An not to expose the family scandal in order to protect the family reputation, but Lu An’s elder brother was afraid of trouble. After hearing this, he bit back and falsely accused Lu An of being unfilial. Ji Kang was very angry when he heard about this and came forward to testify for Lu An. This angered Sima Zhao and was slandered by Zhong Huijin, who had a history of grudges. In this way, Sima Zhao ordered the execution of Ji Kang and Lu An!
On the day of Ji Kang's execution, three thousand Taixue students petitioned the imperial court to pardon him and asked for Ji Kang to teach at Taixue. Their requests were not agreed to. Before execution, Ji Kang's expression remained unchanged, as usual. He looked at the shadow of the sun and knew that there was still some time before the execution, so he asked his brother Ji Xi for his favorite piano and played "Guangling San" on the execution ground.
After the song, Ji Kang put down his piano and sighed: "Yuan Xiaoni (Yuan Zhun) once studied "Guangling San" with me, but I was always stingy and refused to teach him "Guangling San". It will be lost now." After saying this, he was sentenced calmly at the age of forty. Scholars at home and abroad all regretted hearing this. Sima Zhao soon realized his mistake, but regretted it too late.
Ji Kang was not afraid of power for his own principles and literature, and he stood up for his friends. From the above we can see why Jikang is said to be the leader of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest!
A Guangling song ends with heartbreak - look at that Ji Kang looks like a straight man!
