The ancients have a long history of writing and painting, but hard-pen calligraphy tests modern things. Primary students can choose or copy block letters to see whether the stippling is correct, whether the font structure is symmetrical and whether there are typos. Intermediate students will begin to master the layout and common sense of calligraphy.
