Source of the work: In the summer of the ninth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1804), Liu Fenggao, the governor of Shandong Province and historian, and Tie Bao, the governor of Shandong and a master of calligraphy, worked in Tie Bao Xiao Canglang was having a banquet and was in high spirits. Liu made an impromptu couplet: "Four sides are lotuses and three are willows. One city is full of mountains and half is a lake." Tie Bao wrote an impromptu elixir. The stone carvings of this couplet are still embedded on both sides of the door on the west corridor wall of the garden. It has become a famous couplet describing the style of the ancient city of Jinan.

About the author: Liu Fenghao (1761-1830), courtesy name Cheng Mu and nickname Jinmen, was born in Guanquan Village, Chishan Town, Shangli County, Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province. In 1789 (the 54th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty), Hu Changling (Wen Tanhua) was the third person on the list of Jinshi in Jiyouke. Qianlong called Liu Fenggao "the great master of Jiangxi", and more people called him the "talented man of Jiangxi".
