Wang Wenzhi calligraphers can't be idle unless they have goods.

Wang Wenzhi (1730- 1802), a calligrapher in Qing Dynasty, was born in Dantu, Jiangsu Province (now Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province). I began to write poetry at the age of twelve, and poetry has the demeanor of the Tang Dynasty. He studied the calligraphy of Mi, Dong and the late-movers, and made great contributions. The official went to the magistrate in Lin 'an, Yunnan, and went home.

His calligraphy is as good as Dong Qichang's and as famous as Liang's. Wenzhi likes to use light ink on weekdays, showing the charm of simplicity and elegance. He is known as "exploring flowers with light ink" and "talking about ink Hanlin". He is good at painting ink plums with outstanding charm. He has a school of Tang and Song poetry and is proficient in temperament.

Wang Wenzhi was famous for his calligraphy all his life. He studied calligraphy under his predecessor Da Zhongguang in his early years, and was deeply influenced by him. His regular script teacher studied from Chu Suiliang, and his cursive script teacher studied from Preface to Lanting and Preface to Saint Education. However, Qian Yong thought he learned it from the works of Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang, and converted to Zhang Jizhi after middle age.
